Twitter is planning a feature to let you mute and auto-block abusive accounts
Twitter is planning to introduce a new way for users to automatically mute and block abusive accounts, the company at its Analyst Day presentation on Thursday. The feature will be a toggle you can turn on in a new “safety mode”.
Here’s Twitter’s description of how the toggle will work if you flip it on:
“Automatically block accounts that appear to break the Twitter Rules, and mute accounts that might be using insults, name-calling, strong language, or hateful remarks.”
With the new safety mode, Twitter will be able to automatically detect accounts that “might be active spammy or abusive” and limit how those accounts can engage with your content.
Twitter has historically had some tools in place to remove abusive tweets, and it said in 2019 that it removed more than 50 percent of abusive tweets before users report them.

Now You can embed Pinterest Pins in OneNote and Microsoft Word
Microsoft now allows OneNote and Word for Web users to embed Pinterest Pins into their documents. The new feature will allow Pinterest users to paste a URL of any Pin into a Word document or OneNote page to render it as interactive content.
The embeds also work in Word, but only on the web version at the moment. You can now embed Pinterest content into a Word document online and will be displayed when you open the document on the web or mobile versions of Word.
Microsoft is targeting this new feature at schools and students, particularly the OneNote embeds for Pinterest. “Over the past few years, we have heard many requests for a Pinterest integration with OneNote,” explains Mike Tholfsen, a product manager on Microsoft’s education team.
Tubi inks anime streaming deal with Toei Animation
Tubi, the Fox Entertainment run free streaming service, has struck a deal with Toei Animation to bring some of the studio’s work to the platform. The deal includes shows such as Slam Dunk, One Piece and Dr. Slump.
Dr. Slump is an anime adaptation of a manga done by Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball (which the show sometimes crosses over with).
According to the press release, the version on Tubi will be the first time the show has been available to stream in the US with English subtitles.
Looking up the show online shows how hard it’s been to access, with fans talking about a not-well-done DVD release. Having it available to stream, especially for free, should make it easier for hardcore Dragon Ball fans to get a taste of some of its creator’s earlier work.

Google is working to get “Hey Google” working on Wear OS
According to a report from 9to5Google, activating the Google Assistant by saying “Hey Google” has been broken for months.
Google said it is now working on a fix, saying that it is “aware of the issues some users have been encountering” and will help its partners “address these and improve the overall experience.”
There are a good number of users reporting the issue — a post on Google’s Issue Tracker has almost a thousand stars. Reading through the thread, it’s clear that many users with different smartwatch models are all reporting the same issue going back to November 2020.
Google has not made it clear how long it will be until the issue is fixed, but hopefully it gets attention now.
While Wear OS may not be core to Google’s strategy, the Assistant seems to be, and it’d be nice for people who have chosen to put Google’s OS on their wrists to have easy access to it.
